Why Does CoolSculpting Cost So Little?!

October 12, 2022

Written by: Alleia Papaik

Okay, so this is not the way prospective clients usually ask the question. Still, after immersing ourselves in the specialty of CoolSculpting Elite – studying it, perfecting our techniques, pursuing the most advanced clinical training available, and committing ourselves to improving body confidence one client at a time – I’m here to tell you why it should be the question prospective clients ask.

First, let’s start with some honest questions of self-reflection.

How many years have you spent trying different diet fads, exercise trends, personal trainers, or other means to flatten your belly, love handles, or hips?

What about buying clothes you swore you’d diet your way into that are still hanging, the tag attached, in the back of your closet?

Our founder, Cat, is an open book about her body confidence journey, and she agreed to let me use her as an example. She’s 45 now, but fighting stubborn belly fat has been on her mind since she was at least 25. I asked her to list some of the ways she tried to slim down over the last two decades, and here is just what she could remember:

  • Weight Watchers ($30/month x 5 years = $1800)
  • Medical weight loss ($1000 for 2-month program)
  • Running marathons (~$500 in training costs and entry fees per event x 10 = $5000)
  • Peloton (bought one used for $1750)
  • Treadmill (bought used for $1250)

She didn’t include gym or fitness class memberships because we 100% support regular exercise as a commitment to ongoing health and wellness. Cat noted that this list is probably about 75% complete and that she’s forgotten other attempts to eliminate belly fat from the last 20 years, but you get the idea. That’s easily $10k+ she spent thinking she’d find that silver bullet that would finally flatten her belly.

But she was wrong; if running 10 marathons and dipping well below her ideal weight couldn’t do it, what could?

Reluctantly, she tried CoolSculpting – thinking it was too good to be true, but a few thousand dollars and three months after her first session, she was hooked. Finally, the hunk of exercise-resistant fat on her belly that she’d deemed hopeless went away for good. Her only regret was not spending the money on CoolSculpting sooner!

But dollars aren’t the only financial factor in the cost of CoolSculpting. How much is your time worth?

Our clients are moms with 3+ kids, CPAs, wealth managers, lawyers, entertainers, teachers, and business owners. The list goes on with a diverse range of daily responsibilities, but there is one thing they ALWAYS have in common; they’re busy. Very, very busy. And their time is often worth its weight in gold.

Even if you had all the time and money in the world to spend exercising, meal planning, and balancing your nutrition for optimal fat-burning metabolism, it still wouldn’t eliminate those lingering trouble spots that frustrate you. The type of fat that CoolSculpting addresses is EXERCISE AND DIET RESISTANT. Unless you lose so much weight that you become emaciated and unhealthy, weight loss is not a viable means of removing subcutaneous fat.

CoolSculpting is NOT a weight loss treatment. It is a body sculpting procedure.

The last time you lost weight, did you lose it in exactly the places you wanted? To a degree, maybe, but those last stubborn areas linger because it’s physiologically impossible to target which areas of your body you want to reduce in fat through exercise. Your body is predisposed to store fat in certain areas (which is why trouble spots are different for everyone).

Learning this can be frustrating and disheartening, I know. But once you accept this reality, you have the opportunity to take control of your figure frustrations finally!

CoolSculpting targets and permanently eliminates subcutaneous fat. That’s the soft, squishy fat you can feel when you squeeze your love handles, tummy, upper arms, inner thighs, or other frustrating fat pockets.

Subcutaneous fat differs from visceral fat, which is behind the abdominal wall, liver, stomach, and organs. It’s the kind of fat you can’t physically touch and can only be affected through diet and exercise.

When you lose weight, you can reduce your body’s visceral fat, but it’s virtually impossible (again, you’d have to lose an unhealthy amount of weight) to reduce subcutaneous fat with diet and exercise. Even if you did have such dramatic, unhealthy weight loss that you lost subcutaneous fat, it wouldn’t be permanent.

In simpler terms, “if you can squeeze it, we can freeze it.” CoolSculpting is one of the only means of permanently eliminating subcutaneous fat (other legitimate options include liposuction and Kybella – stay tuned for my take on the benefits of CoolSculpting vs. those procedures later!).

Still skeptical?

I have to admit that I was skeptical when I first met our founder, Cat, and heard her rave about how CoolSculpting had changed her life for the better. I have worked in multiple med spas and health clubs throughout my career, and I’ve seen A LOT of fads and procedures promise to give you the body of your dreams. Unfortunately, none of them held up.

The way she described it, it frankly sounded too good to be true. How could such a miracle exist to get hooked up to a machine in a virtually pain free way with zero downtime and end up months later with a flat stomach that you never dreamed you could have?!

Because we were connected through a mutual friend, I trusted Cat enough to try it out. Now that I’ve dedicated this year to becoming a specialist and have undergone many rounds for myself, I am a true believer.

I’m grateful to work in a boutique medspa that’s fun and rewarding, but there truly is no compensation that matches the happiness I get from hearing clients come back telling me how amazed they are with their results.

The Cost of Specialization

Having spent weeks immersed in deep training in various cities across the U.S., interviewing experts in CoolSculpting, and studying best practices of the national CoolSculpting thought leaders, I can tell you that the only way to get good at CoolSculpting is by specializing.

I will admit I was nervous the first few times I hooked a client up to our CoolSculpting Elite device (thank you to my friends and family who trusted me to treat them early on!). I have spent most of this year doing nothing but CoolSculpting – studying it, practicing it, perfecting it – day in and day out.

Did you know that any med spa that offers dozens of services can get its employees to CoolSculpt a client with nothing more than a few hours of training? And because most med spas provide so many services, they may only do CoolSculpting a few times a month.

CoolSculpting is a permanent change to your body and should not be taken lightly.

Think about the things you are willing to pay a premium for; do you go to Super Cuts or Van Michael? Or, if you found out you needed heart surgery, would you go to your family care doctor?

We’re not knocking the benefit of saving money – far from it. We are all about value and a good deal. But there are certain areas of your life where specialization matters, and there is a significant investment in becoming a premium specialty provider – whether it’s care for your hair or your heart!

Let’s revisit the question we first get from prospective clients, “why does CoolSculpting cost so much?” We find that the question disappears after the first body area is treated. The value of stubborn fat vanishing after decades of frustration, the ability to fit into clothes you never thought possible, or the confidence of looking good in a bathing suit for the first time in your adult life is priceless.

The question we often get from clients after their first round of treatment is, “when can we schedule my next treatment area?”

All of that said…

We are committed to supporting your body transformation and don’t want price to be a barrier.

You are in it for long-term, meaningful change, and we want to support you in making that happen. That’s why we offer three means of helping to defray the cost of your CoolSculpting.

1. Payment Plan.

Even if you have a steady cash flow and can pay for the total cost of your treatment upfront, why would you? We’re all about cash flow management to help with the household budget, so we offer a payment plan option to spread the cost of your treatment over six months (divided into equal payments). There is no hard credit check, and the application is super simple. You can even apply before your consultation to have the peace of mind knowing you can spread out the cost of your treatment rather than paying fully upfront. Apply for our payment plan here.

2. Pay It Forward

We have two primary purposes at Formed Body Sculpting: Transform bodies for better confidence and empower people with knowledge on achieving better body confidence.

When we’re not treating clients, we’re busy educating people on why we are so passionate about the transformative power of CoolSculpting. We are overjoyed when our clients want to take part in that education to unlock this powerful opportunity for their own friends and family (as Cat spent YEARS doing before she opened this business!)

That’s why we created a robust client referral program to help you further defray the cost of your own treatment plan(s). Learn how to get credit for referring clients here.

3. Redeem Allē Points

Many of our clients are already enrolled in Allē, a rewards program from the manufacturer of Botox and CoolSculpting. If you’re not, we’ll offer to sign you up so you can start accruing points with CoolSculpting! Enrolling in Allē can help you accrue hundreds of dollars to apply toward your CoolSculpting treatments and body transformation journey. Get started or check your balance here.

The Value of Being Different

The med spa industry is notorious for luring you in with discounts and promos, then upselling you into a package with numbers that are hard to understand.

At Formed Body Sculpting, we refuse to do that.

Just like we break the mold by focusing on one procedure only (notunheard of in the med spa world!), we are open and transparent about our pricing. Take a look at our pricing here and then reach out to me directly with your follow up questions.

We respect the value you place on your health, time, and wallet, so we will work with you to design a payment structure that works on your timeline and budget to achieve your body transformation goals. I can’t wait to meet you and share what that timeline can look like for you!
